In the Pechersky district of Kyiv on the evening of Friday, December 1, a drunk Toyota driver drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a Renault car. As a result of the accident, two citizens died.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in Kyiv.

Law enforcement officers clarified that the fatal traffic accident happened on Staronovodnitskaya Street.

It was established that the driver of a Toyota car, moving along the roadway, drove into the oncoming lane, as a result of which it collided with a Renault car.

“The driver and passenger of the Renault car died at the scene of the incident from their injuries,” the police said.

The NPU also reported that the culprit of the accident was a citizen of another state, born in 1979, who was driving a Toyota. The man, according to preliminary information, was intoxicated.

Law enforcement officers detained him in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Data about the incident were entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations on the grounds of a criminal offense under Part 4 of Art. 286-1 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated).

Now the perpetrator of a fatal accident faces a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
