An experiment is being conducted in Kyiv with the introduction of adjacent traffic light regulation for pedestrians and cyclists
An experiment with the introduction of adjacent traffic light regulation for pedestrians and cyclists is being conducted at eight intersections of the capital. This is reported by the KP "Traffic Management Center" (TSODR).
According to the company, in accordance with the requirements of current regulatory documents, movement along the bicycle path at regulated intersections must be ensured using appropriate traffic lights. At intersections where bicycle paths are adjacent to pedestrian sidewalks, until November 1, 2023, modified lenses of pedestrian traffic lights with the image of a pedestrian and a bicycle will be used as an experiment. The changes were approved by the Patrol Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Such innovations will make it possible to conveniently regulate the movement of all its participants until the new DSTU standard "Traffic lights" comes into effect.
The experiment was implemented at the following intersections in Kyiv:
- Ave. Stepan Bandera - ave. Obolonskyi;
- St. Prorizna - st. Boris Grinchenko;
- St. Ivan Franko - str. Bohdan Khmelnytsky;
- St. Spaska - str. Voloska;
- St. Honore de Balzac - str. Ronald Reagan (former Theodore Dreiser Street);
- St. Honore de Balzac - str. Serzh Lifarya;
- St. Honore de Balzac - str. Oleksandra Ekster (formerly Maryna Tsvetaeva Street);
- St. Vikentia Beretti - ave. Krasnoy Kalina (former Volodymyr Mayakovsky Ave.).
