Kyiv City State Administration introduced the "Express Pass" mode for paying for travel via Apple Pay in surface public transport in Kyiv

Today, the Kyiv City State Administration has introduced a function of safe, secure and private fare payment in Kyiv surface public transport. Users will now be able to pay by simply holding their iPhone or Apple Watch close to the validator. Owners of compatible iPhones or Apple Watches (iPhone 8 or later, Watch Series 4 or later) will also be able to turn on Express Passage, allowing passengers on public transit to pay with a single touch without having to unlock the device or log out. sleep mode.

“The Express Pass mode will provide security, convenience and safety of fare payment for public transport passengers. Paying with an Apple device with one touch will make your trip to your destination easier and faster. We are working further to make Kyiv more comfortable and convenient for residents,” said Petr Olenich, Head of Digital Transformation of Kyiv and Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration.

To enable this feature, users must add a qualifying credit or debit card to Apple Wallet. They can then turn on Express Pass by doing the following:

• Open the Wallet app on iPhone and select a card.
• Click the "More" button (...), and then - "Card details".
• Click the "Express Options" button.
• Select the desired credit or debit card.

To further improve the user experience, once Express Passage is enabled, customers will be able to use their iPhone to pay their ground transit fare for up to five hours, even when the device is running out of power, thanks to the backup power.

Using surface transit fares with Apple Pay gives customers all the privacy and security benefits built into iPhone and Apple Watch. Credit or debit card details added to Apple Wallet are never transferred to or stored by Apple.

If an iPhone or Apple Watch is lost, the owner of the device can immediately use the Find My app to lock the device and track its location.
