As of 10:38 on August 20, 12 people were reported dead and over 30 injured in Kyiv as a result of a massive Russian attack on the night of Thursday.
As reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, the largest number of casualties was in Solomyanskyi district, where eight residents of the capital died. 18 injured are in hospital in city hospitals.
The consequences of the attack were recorded in Svyatoshynskyi, Solomyanskyi and Darnytskyi districts. Residential and non-residential buildings, warehouses, a school and a children's hospital were damaged.
In the Solomyanskyi district, the attack destroyed the upper floors and caused a fire in a nine-story residential building. Rescuers extinguished the fire. The blast wave damaged windows in four residential buildings near the building.
At another address, debris caused a fire in a four-story building at the level of the upper floors.
A school and a children's hospital were also damaged in the district. Windows were broken in a medical facility, and cars caught fire on the territory. The fire was extinguished. Garages were also damaged.
In the Svyatoshynskyi district, destruction of premises in the territory of non-residential buildings was recorded, and warehouses were also on fire.
In the Darnytskyi district, non-residential and warehouses were damaged.
According to the mayor, the liquidation of the consequences of the Russian attack continues at the sites of damage.
Separately, the Kyiv City State Administration reported damage to the children's hospital. According to preliminary data, there are no injured patients or medical staff.
"The capital is recovering after a massive enemy attack. The liquidation of the consequences continues at the sites of damage," — Vitaliy Klitschko reported.
During the night attack, more than 38 thousand people were at the Kyiv metro stations, among them — more than 2 thousand children.
Due to the security situation, the movement of the Kyiv City Express was temporarily suspended. Later, it was restored in both directions, but the trains ran alternately and with delays.
Also in the morning, the movement of city public transport was gradually restored. Trams No. 11 and 17 returned to their routes, but ran with a deviation from the schedule. The movement of trolleybus No. 8 was also restored.
After the night attack, tens of thousands of homes were left without electricity. According to DTEK, as of 8:40, power workers had restored power to 50,000 families, while about 40,000 homes remained without electricity.
Repairs to damaged power equipment were to begin after receiving permission from the military and rescuers.
For residents affected by the attack, a relief headquarters was deployed in Solomiansky district at school No. 69 on Donetska Street, 25.
Social workers, psychologists, doctors, and police officers are working there. Victims can receive legal and psychological assistance, as well as use a recreation area.

In connection with the deaths of people during the massive attack, August 21 has been declared a Day of Mourning in the capital.
On this day, flags will be flown at half-mast on municipal buildings. The city authorities also recommended lowering the national flags on state and private buildings.
In addition, any entertainment events are prohibited in Kyiv on August 21.
