Social services of Kyiv check the addresses of people with limited mobility on the eve of winter: who should contact

On August 14, the social services of Kyiv continue to update information about the actual place of residence of people from low-mobility population groups, who may need additional assistance in the event of an emergency.

It is about planned preparation of city services for the winter period and possible emergency situations in the conditions of martial law. This was announced by the deputy head of the KMDA for the exercise of self-governing powers Marina Honda.

The city, in particular, clarifies data about:

  • single elderly people;
  • people with disabilities;
  • families raising children with disabilities.

Up-to-date information is necessary so that, in the event of an emergency, social services can promptly contact a person, find out their needs and organize the necessary assistance. If necessary, it can also be about the temporary transfer of a person to a safer place.

Why does the city check actual addresses

According to Maryna Honda, last winter the city services faced a situation when some of the people with reduced mobility actually did not live at the address of official registration.

"Last winter, we saw one important problem: a part of people from low-mobility groups actually do not live at the address of official registration. Therefore, in the event of an emergency, the data on the registered place of residence is not enough," Marina Honda said.

She emphasized that now the city is trying to check and update the information so that, if necessary, social services understand where a person actually is and what kind of help he needs.

At the same time, the KMDA separately emphasizes that the updating of addresses does not mean the announcement of evacuation and does not indicate the prediction of a specific emergency situation.

Who does not need to reapply

It is not necessary to re-submit information to people who are already on the social support of the territorial center of social services or the district administration of social and veteran policy and have previously provided up-to-date information about their place of residence.

At the same time, those who belong to the relevant categories, but are not on social services or are not sure that the city has up-to-date data on their actual address, are recommended to contact social services.

"Clarification of addresses and contact data is a normal part of the work of city services to prepare for possible emergency situations," noted Marina Honda.

Where to turn for Kyiv residents

To clarify information or report data about yourself or a loved one, you can contact the department of social and veteran policy of the relevant district:

  • Holosiivskyi district: (044) 257-01-34;
  • Darnytskyi: (044) 366-70-20;
  • Desnianskyi: (044) 530-16-16;
  • Dniprovsky: (044) 512-08-07;
  • Obolonsky: (044) 467-99-73, (044) 467-82-56;
  • Pechersky: (044) 254-42-69, (044) 280-69-61;
  • Podilskyi: (044) 425-25-25;
  • Svyatoshynskyi: (044) 273-44-55;
  • Solomyansky: (044) 207-39-00;
  • Shevchenkivskyi: (044) 366-58-11.

The city authorities note that Kyiv is preparing to pass the winter period under conditions of martial law and a constant threat of attacks on critical infrastructure.

It is not about waiting for a specific disaster, but about preparation for various possible scenarios. City services must ensure the readiness of life support systems, and residents are urged not to panic to take care of their own safety, to keep their contact information up to date, and to know the procedure in case of an emergency.
