On Wednesday, January 28, the capital is forecast to experience worsening weather conditions. In particular, fog with visibility of 200–500 meters, ice and slush on the roads are expected. In this regard, the 1st level of danger (yellow) has been declared. This is reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
According to the forecasters, it will be cloudy during the day, with possible light precipitation, mainly in the form of rain. South wind, 5–10 m/s. The air temperature at night will be 3–5° below zero, during the day - about 0°.
Experts urge drivers to be especially careful when driving in fog: reduce speed, maintain a safe distance, avoid sudden maneuvers, use dipped headlights and fog lights, and turn on the hazard warning lights when stopping.
Pedestrians are asked to take their time, move carefully on sidewalks, and use reflective elements if possible to be visible to drivers in fog and darkness.
The city also reminds of safety rules during icy conditions. Drivers are advised not to use cars with summer tires, reduce speed near pedestrian crossings and in areas of childcare facilities, and to prefer public transport during snowfalls.
The Kyiv City State Administration emphasizes that responsibility for timely and high-quality snow and ice removal lies not only with municipal services, but also with enterprises of all forms of ownership. Inspectors monitor compliance with the rules of improvement, and fines are provided for violations.
