On August 19, specialists from the Pleso enterprise began biological cleaning of the Syretskyi stream and Kyrylivskyi lake, which were contaminated.
As reported by the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation of the Kyiv City State Administration, the main work on neutralizing dissolved pollutants was focused on the Syretskyi stream. It is through it that pollution enters Kyrylivskyi lake.
To clean the stream and contaminated soil, a specialized bioremediator called "TREVITAN" was used. This is an organic catalyst designed to promote the natural breakdown of organic and chemical compounds.
In total, the specialists applied 1,700 liters of working solution, of which 160 liters were concentrated active ingredient. The preparation includes potassium succinate and salts of organic acids, which help bind pollutants and launch natural bioremediation processes.
According to the manufacturer, the preparation is not toxic to flora and fauna. Its safety, as noted in the Kyiv City State Administration, is confirmed by the official conclusion of the State Service for the Protection and Promotion of the Environment and the tests of the Institute of Hydrobiology.
“We thank the manufacturers of the preparation, LLC “TREVITAN UKRAINE”, for their support of Kyiv and responsible position. The company provided the city with both the preparation itself and the services for its application free of charge. Such assistance is important for the prompt elimination of the consequences of pollution and the restoration of our water bodies,” said Andriy Vagin, head of the Pleso Communal Enterprise.
In parallel, mechanical cleaning is underway on Kyrylivsky Lake. Specialists are mowing and removing vegetation on which oil particles have accumulated.
Thus, the cleaning of water bodies is carried out in a comprehensive manner: a biological method is used on the Syretsky Stream to neutralize pollutants, and contaminated vegetation is removed on Kyrylivsky Lake.
All work is under the constant supervision of specialists from the Pleso Communal Enterprise.
