In Kyiv, on Nikolai Mikhnovsky Boulevard, 3-A, a mural dedicated to the air defense forces and Ukrainian energy workers was opened. The mural received the symbolic name “Defenders of the Light.”
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the organizers of the event.
The mural depicts a military man protecting the sky from airborne danger, and an energy worker ready to quickly repair power grids in case of damage. They are shown against the backdrop of evening Kyiv, in which, thanks to their joint work, there is light in people's homes.
The opening of the mural was attended by the military of the 112th separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces, protecting Kyiv from suicide bombers, as well as energy workers from the DTEK company.
“Our soldiers monitor the safety of the Ukrainian sky every day so that the enemy cannot realize his plans and destroy important military and civilian energy facilities. The effective operation of air defense is the basis for the security of Ukraine. Therefore, we will continue to make every effort to protect our sky.” We are grateful to the authors of the mural for this initiative. Right now, standing on the threshold of the second winter in the conditions of a full-scale invasion, the defenders of the world need public support more than ever,” emphasized the commander of the 112th separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel Vladislav Kosenko.
A mural dedicated to air defense forces and power engineers was unveiled in Kyiv
Work on the mural has been ongoing since March of this year. Immediately after the passage of the last difficult winter, a competition was held among artists, as a result of which a working group of artists and illustrators was created who collaborated on the implementation of the mural.
The author of the illustration was Dartsa Zirenko, and the mural was created by Ukrainian artists Andrey Kovtun, Anton Kondrashov and Victoria Lime.
“Last winter became a real challenge for power engineers. The enemy tried to plunge the country into darkness, but the occupiers failed. As soon as we passed last winter, we came up with the idea of honoring the defenders of the light: every air defense warrior who defended the sky around the clock; every power engineer who which returned light after massive attacks and hits on energy facilities,” commented DTEK Executive Director Dmitry Sakharuk.
