Night attack on Kyiv: the number of victims has increased to 26, rescuers are completing the search under the rubble

On the night of August 5, Russian troops launched a massive strike on Kyiv. According to operational information from the city authorities, as of 10:08, one person was killed and 26 injured, 16 of whom are in hospital. Search and rescue operations at certain locations continued after the airstrike ended.

The Holosiivskyi, Obolonskyi, Desnyanskyi and Svyatoshynskyi districts of the capital suffered the greatest destruction. In the Holosiivskyi district, a private residential building was destroyed, people were trapped under the rubble. An ammonia leak was also recorded there after hitting a non-residential building.

In the Obolonsky district, fires broke out in warehouses, there were reports of an office building being hit and fires in residential buildings. Later, information about a fire in one of the 20-story residential buildings was not confirmed. In the Desnyansky district, a warehouse caught fire, and rocket fragments fell near a residential building.

During the liquidation of the consequences of the repeated explosions, an ambulance was damaged, the driver was injured.

As reported by the Kyiv City State Administration, emergency services worked at all the hit sites continuously. “All specialized services of the city are involved in the liquidation of the consequences of the attack. We ask residents not to approach the rescuers' work sites and to trust only official information," the city authorities said.

In addition to the destruction, the quality of the air in the capital has deteriorated. According to the city's monitoring system, an increased concentration of ground-level ozone and suspended dust particles has been recorded. The reasons were abnormal heat, fires after shelling, high humidity and weak wind, which prevent the dispersion of pollutants. Kyiv residents are recommended to close windows, limit their stay in the open air and, if possible, use air purifiers.

Due to the consequences of the attack, the movement of buses on route No. 37-A has been temporarily changed. Transport runs only to Pecherska Street without stopping at the Chayki residential area.

Drivers are advised to avoid areas where rescue and utility services are operating, to closely monitor temporary traffic restrictions, plan routes with plenty of time, and to comply with the requirements of law enforcement and regulators.
